About The Department
The Department of Chemistry of Shri Yashwantarao Patil Science College, Solankur offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. programs in Chemistry. Faculty members have excellent academic credentials and are highly regarded. 3 faculty members are Ph.D. holders among the 7 and all others are NET/SET with JRF. The department has a distinguished record in both academics and research.
The department is marching forward in newer areas of research and teaching with young and energetic faculty members who has industrial and academic exposure. The faculty members of the department engage themself in highly productive research work in some of the important areas of Chemistry such as nanomaterials, metal complexes, polymer nanocomposites, green synthesis etc. They have been publishing their work in reputed international and national journals and executing externally funded research projects. Over the years the department has conducted several excellent national, state and regional level seminars and workshops on frontier areas of chemistry for the benefit of students, faculty and research scholars. The department of chemistry is well known for its excellence in teaching and research. The faculty members of the department are engaged in state of the art research as well as guiding the B. Sc. and M.Sc, Projects.
The Department currently has five laboratories; two for postgraduates, one for research and two for undergraduates. The postgraduate and undergraduate laboratories have all the needed facilities like electronic balances (with accuracy 0.1 mg), digital potentiometer, digital conductometer, digital colorimeter, refractometer, polarimeter, pH meter, melting point apparatus, vacuum pump, centrifuge, air oven etc. The research lab has various equipment like Digital Potentiometer, Digital Conductometer, Digital Colorimeter, Refractometer, Thermostat, Muffle Furnace, Electronic balances (with accuracy 0.1 mg and 1 mg), Rotary Shaker, UV Spectrophotometer, Flame Photometer , Turbidometer etc.

Dr. Gurunath Ganapati Chougale is working as In-charge Principal & Head, Department of Chemistry. He has awarded with Ph.D. from Bundelkhand University, Jhansi, and Uttar Pradesh. He has completed his master degree in Applied Chemistry from Shivaji University (MS) in 2010. He is working as In-charge Principal of our college from 2013 to 2021and from January 2023 to till date. He have 10 years of teaching experience at UG level and two year for PG and Ten research article published in national and international journals. He has attended more than twenty conferences, workshops and four Faculty Development Programme (FDP). He has published more than 10 research papers, 4 chapters and 1 book on his name in different journals.
Mr. J. K. Chavan is working as an Assistant Professor in Department of Chemistry from June 2012. His educational Qualification is M. Sc. NET-JRF in Chemistry and also he has admitted for Ph. D. degree in The Institute of Science, University of Mumbai. He has published 1 research paper and also presented several research articles in many conferences. He has been Convener and coordinator for several national and state level conferences, workshops, seminars etc.
Dr. Atul Dinnkar Kamble is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Shri Yashwantrao Patil Science College Solankur, Radhanagari Dist- Kolhapur. He has awarded with Ph.D. Plastics Technology (Polymer Science and Technology) from Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagr, Gujarat I the year 2012. He has completed one minor research project under the research initiation scheme, Shivaji University. Kolhapur. He has completed his master degree in Polymer Chemistry from Solapur University, Solapur (MS) in 2006. He has qualified the MH-SET in the year June 2018. He is working as Coordinator/Members on different Committee in the college. He have nine years of teaching experience at UG level and two year for PG and Ten research article published in national and international journals. He has attended more than twenty conferences, workshops and four Faculty Development Programme (FDP). Further, he has been delivered guest lectures in different colleges and Seminars.
Mr. Sandip D. Gorshetwar is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Shri Yashwantrao Patil Science College Solankur, Radhanagari, Dist. Kolhapur. He completed his master degree in Organic chemistry from Science College, Nanded affiliated with S.R.T.M.U., Nanded (M.S) in the year 2010. He has qualified for NET in June 2011. Also, he worked as a Coordinator as well as a member of different Committees in college specially in NSS Committee and organized five NSS camp nearby village. He had Nine years of teaching experience at the UG level and two years at the PG level. He has published one research articles in reputed international journals. He has attended twenty-seven conferences, workshops, Seminars, and symposiums and presented posters at three conferences or Seminars. He completed the Orientation program in the year 2021 and Refresher course in chemistry in the year 2019, 2021, and 2022 Further, he delivered more than ten lectures as a guest speaker.
Mr. Prakash S. Pawar is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Shri Yashwantrao Patil Science College Solankur, Radhanagari Dist- Kolhapur. He was completed his master degree in organic chemistry from Dayanand Science College, Latur Affiliated to Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded (SRTMU) (MS) in 2011. And also qualified the UGC-NET-JRF with 66 & 68 rank in Dec-2012 and June 2013, GATE Feb-2013, MH-SET in June -2019. He is working as Member of Board of studies at Mahavir Mahavidyalaya, (Autonomous), Affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur for Bachelor of Vocation (B. Voc.) Programme Chemical Technology. Also he worked as Member as well as Coordinator on different Committee in college. He have eight years of teaching experience at UG level and two year for PG and three research article and two more book chapter in national and international journals. He has attended more than twenty five conferences, workshops and Faculty Development Programme (FDP) as well as presented poster or oral in various national and international conferences. Further he delivered more than eleven lectures as a guest speaker. Now he is pursuing Ph.D. degree in chemistry under faculty of Science and Technology at Shivaji University, Kolhapur.
Dr. Nilesh V. Junghare is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Shri Yashwantrao Patil Science College Solankur, Radhanagari, Dist. Kolhapur. He completed his master degree in Organic chemistry from Baburaoji Gholap College, Sangvi, Pune, affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), Pune (M.S) in the year 2012. He has qualified for NET in July 2012. In addition he has completed Ph.D degree in chemistry under Faculty of Science and Technology at Annasaheb Magar Mahavidyalaya, Hadapsar, Pune affiliated to SPPU, Pune. Also, he worked as a Coordinator as well as a Member of different Committees in college. He had Nine years of teaching experience at the UG level and two years at the PG level. He has published three research articles in reputed international Scopus and web of Science listed journals. He has attended thirty-seven conferences, workshops, Seminars, and symposiums and presented papers or posters at thirteen conferences or Seminars. He completed the Orientation program in the year 2016, the first Refresher course in chemistry in the year 2018, FDP in 2020, and the second Refresher course in chemistry in the year 2021. Further, he delivered more than ten lectures as a guest speaker.
Dr. Minakshi Vishwas Patil is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Shri Yashwantrao Patil Science College Solankur, Radhanagari Dist- Kolhapur. She was completed her master degree in Physical chemistry from Shivaji University Kolhapur in 2010. Now she was awarded Ph.D. degree in chemistry under faculty of Science and Technology at Shivaji University, Kolhapur in 2017. Also she worked as Member as well as Coordinator on different Committee in college. She has four years of teaching experience at UG level and two year for PG and three research article in national and international journals. She has attended more than twenty conferences, workshops and Faculty Development Programme (FDP) as well as presented poster or oral in various national and international conferences. Further she delivered more than seven lectures as a guest speaker.
