Department of Physics
Welcome to the Physics Department, a place where we explore the mysteries of the universe and seek to understand the fundamental laws that govern the behavior of matter and energy. Our department is dedicated to providing students with a comprehensive education in physics, including both theoretical and experimental aspects of the subject.
Department of Physics was established in the academic year 2014-15. The persistent efforts of all the stakeholders led the department to have almost all the facilities in our well-equipped laboratory. The staff members have designed and fabricated many experiments in the department itself. The department has an unique library containing textbooks, reference books, novels. Department has three permanent teaching staff along with one laboratory assistant and attendant. All the three teaching staff is Ph. D. and two have done Post-Doctoral from foreign universities. One staff Dr. A. A. Jatratkar is working as Board of Studies (BOS) sub committee member in two subjects viz Physics, Astrophysics & Space Science. Two staff Dr. R. B Patil and Dr. S. H. Tamboli are working as Board of Studies (BOS) sub committee member in Physics.
With a team of highly qualified faculty members and state-of-the-art facilities, we offer a rigorous curriculum that covers a wide range of topics, from classical mechanics and electromagnetism to quantum mechanics and astrophysics. Our goal is to nurture students for careers in research, academia, industry, and beyond, as well as to foster a deep appreciation and understanding of the world around us.
At the Physics Department, we encourage students to engage in hands-on research and participate in exciting projects and collaborations, both within the department and with other institutions. We strive to create a supportive and inclusive community where all students can thrive and reach their full potential. Dr. Rahul B. Patil is Head of Department, with 12 years teaching experience and two years professional experience. He has done PhD from Shivaji University Kolhapur in 2008 and further Post-Doctorate from National Central University Taiwan during 2009 and 2010. He has worked in various committees formulated by Shivaji University, Kolhapur. He has served as NAAC Coordinator during the institutional NAAC first cycle. He has published 27 research papers in reputed Scopus/WOS indexed journals having more than 440 citations. He has been Convener, Coordinator, Organizing Secretary of various national and international conferences. He has served as Guest Editor of many special issues published in Scopus/WOS indexed journals. He has written two reference books, published by Lap Lambert Academic Publishing House Germany and few text books of physics.

Dr. Sikandar H. Tamboli is working as Assistant Professor in Department of Physics. He has done PhD from Shivaji University Kolhapur in 2011 and further Post-Doctorate from Yonsei University and Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) South Korea during 2011 to 2014. He has published 19 research papers in reputed journals having more than 290+ citations. He has been Co-convener and coordinator of several national and international conferences. He has written one reference book published by Lap Lambert Academic Publishing House Germany and few text books of physics.

Dr. Aviraj A. Jatratkar is working as Assistant Professor in Department of Physics. He has done PhD from Shivaji University Kolhapur in 2017. He has published 09 research papers in reputed journals having 225 + citations. He has worked as Board of Studies Sub-committee member in two subjects, 1) Physics and 2) Astro-Physics and Space science and. He is involved in several social activities. He is founder president of Astronomical Society of Stargazing and Instrumentation (ASSI) and owner of SpaceTech Instruments. He has delivered 50+ invited talks and conducted 80+ night sky observations in all over Maharashtra. He has made more than 10 telescopes. He has also chaired national and state level seminars.
